MyPad - An iPad Social Network App

The first thing that comes to my mind when I first used MyPad for facebooking, I was totally amazed. Never have I felt so comfortable using a third party app for social networking, especially when it comes to Facebook. The user interface is awesome! With the big quick link sidebar, you will never miss your updates. It updates you frequently on your news feed, notifications, messages, chat, and more! I personally love the chat function in MyPad! It displays those who are online at the right sidebar and I can just tap on the friend whom I want chat with. I can chat with multiple friends at same time as well. When you are in the middle of a chat, the app will notify you if another friend wants to chat with you. Besides Facebook, if you have a Twitter account, you can view and post updates through the quick link on the sidebar.

Photos and videos support is my another personal favorite. It has a beautiful photo gallery and a built in video player which allows you to watch and share your favorite music videos and trip photos with your buddies and love ones. Moreover, it includes iPad2 camera support, You take a picture of your choice and upload It directly to Facebook.

What if you have an additional Facebook account? No worries, as this wonderful app supports multiple accounts!

Overall, this app is amazing, and I would recommend to those iPad users who are active in fb and Twitter. This app will certainly change your social networking experience.

Note: There seems to be certain issues on photo tagging. The tag button is there, but it is not functioning.

iBooks - The impact and potential

I'm regret to admit that I'm not a book lover, but the beauty of iPad's e book library, known as iBooks, has miraculously turned me into a heavy reader of various genre ever since the first day I hold the iPad in my hand. iBooks is a revolutionary idea that could change the world. By having an attractive user interface, it has dragged more and more young readers to it's library. Not only limit to it's pretty look, it's rich functionality also help it to gain more popularity. One main reason why many still resist the urge to get an electronic book reader device, is due to the fact that you can't hold and flip through the pages like you did to your paperback Twilight Saga. With the page turning effect in your iBooks app, you can flip your book's pages naturally. This is indeed addictive, especially when you read a thick novel. Also worth mentioning, is its built-in English dictionary, which you can summon by double tapping the unfamiliar word of your choice. No more excuse can be made for not bringing a dictionary with you.

iBooks is a dream come true to many of us. Many desire to bring along their entire book shelf with them when they go for a vacation. With iBooks library which resembles a solid wooden book shelf, everyone is capable of bringing his or her personal book collection to the beach!

IBooks store is a major hit, and with majority of big publishers joining the crowd, it has totally change the way people buy books. Plus, visiting the book store is as simple as a tap. We know how lazy human can be nowadays, wishing that everything is just steps away. Now with iBooks store, You don't even have to wear your shoes! Just tap on the "store" button and the book shelf will turn around and reveal a virtual bookstore which is neatly categorized. Tap on the price tag and it will turn into a green purchase button. Not sure of what you are interested in? You can tap on the book lightly and it will show you the brief descriptions of the content. Pretty convenient isn't it?

I personally favor the ease of reading my PDF magazines in iBook. I can have a clear full page view unlike reading on my laptop where I've to scroll down the page slowly to read the content. When I want to turn to the next page, I can simply swipe through the pages with either one or two fingers, reading has become so incredibly fun and intuitive. I don't have to learn how to control my ebook, the device just react to my action naturally, and without I noticing, I've already finish reading the whole James Patterson novel!

iBook has the potential of driving more youngsters to the habit of reading. While the lack of reading has become one of the severe issues around the world, the emergent of iPad and it's iBooks can possibly change the world literacy level, and might even miraculously reduce the rate of illiteracy!

SinChew-i Still Buggy

Though the idea of having one of the first Chinese Newspaper free app for iPad is great, however, being severely buggy has completely spoiled it's practicality. My first encounter of this new app is through Malaysia's Sin Chew Daily printed newspaper which my family subscribed. Once I get to know about this app, I go straight to the App store and install it. My experience of this app is quite encouraging. The installation is fast, and the only annoyance is the short survey which I need to complete before I'm allowed to proceed to the main page. The news are quite complete and neatly organized. It is easy to browse through the news updates. Even better, all the minor news such as entertainment news and the critics section are also included. BUT, the app itself is very buggy, it keep shutting down automatically when I am browsing through the news, sometimes I can't even open certain news and pictures. The experience is really upsetting. It's hope that Sin Chew Daily can put more effort in improving their app so as to make it a worthy app to download.

An Apple A Day

Why do people still go for iPad though we can actually list down zillions of possibilities that Android can outperformed? What is so great about iPad? If I put an iPad and an Android tablet in front of a clueless old man who don't have a slight idea about technology, he might still pick up the iPad!

To solve this mystery, I've bought myself an iPad 2, and will attempt to discover its advantages and potentials that make it the king among the tablets. More discoveries will be described in my future posts, so, remember to stay update to my blog post :)

f.lux your PC

I know most of us like to work in front of your computer at least 12 hours a day, and keeping your eyes focus on the LED screen is tiring. One of factors is your screen's brightness. Sometimes we just don't have idea on how to adjust the degree of brightness, since It's difficult to decide which level of light exposure is safer for us.

Here's a solution for those of you who are like me, have unfortunately have your head nailed to the PC screen. It's an amazing software called F.lux. No kidding! this little software really save my day! Rather than calling it a software, I prefer to call it an app, a small size which only cost you 546.3 KB of disc space. The installation is speedy, which takes only few seconds to complete.

After the setup has completed, you have to do some setting according to your preferences. The setting seems convincing, which provide you logical options like adjusting your preferable lighting for day and night, setting your current location based on coordinate, and also the transition speed of the screen brightness. It also allows you to disable the app for an hour if you are working on something that requires precise colours.

After the setting is done, you can now seat back and let the app do its job. During day time, it will change the screen colour to a colour that matches the sunlight, allowing you to work comfortably under normal sunlight condition, without straining your eyes. It even tells you approximately the time left before sunset. At night, it will change the colour of your screen to make it more soothing when you work under a fluorescent or halogen lamp (can be adjusted during the setting).

In short, this app is very practical and ridiculously fun. When you have learnt this app well, you can manipulate this app easily and make use of it in the way you desire.
