There are tonnes of analyses and reviews online about Apple, whether its about its Macintosh production, the "i" (iPhone, iPod, iPad, iCloud, iOS, etc.), its "wild life"based OSes, such as the Leopard, Snow Leopard, Tiger, Lion, etc., all those analysis are mostly viewed from the Job's perspective, and from the Apple's perspective. So my point is, instead of typing a long winded review about Apple in the view of Apple itself, describing the list of advantages that their products held, let's clear our mind and talk about something different in this post. Let's discuss about Apple Inc. in a not so Apple way.
What sets Apple apart from other products in the market? What makes us call a Mac a Mac, instead of calling it a Mac brand PC? What makes iPod so distinctive among other portable music players?and finally, what makes every reputable PC manufacturer from following the path of iPad in creating their own "pads"? How sure are they that Apple's business strategies will succeed? So many questions to be answer!
What sets Apple apart from other products?
The number 1 factor is of course its state of the art design. Instead of calling it revolutionary, I prefer "state of the art" as the right phrase to describe Apple. Its design is different, so much different from the others till the extent that you might even forget that they both have something in common (the processor, the GPU, etc.) They make a product that is so much thinner and handy than a notebook, yet still highly functional and productive. They make music players that is so familiar to the users, and yet so different in its design and control. And the way they exhibit their products are so much fancy and attractive than others.
What makes a Mac a Mac?
Apple is incredibly influential. People around the world knows about Apple, talks about Apple and dreams about Apple. People drool every time a new Apple product is launched. There's always a "kilometres" long queue when a new iPad or iPhone is launched. Apple is always the initiator to revolutionary. It's patented multi-touch and gesture support to all its products is so amazing and easy to use, that it's hard to live without it. The astonishing clear and detailed widescreen display manages to capture the consumers heart, making a change to the role of Macbook in entertainment. Apple doesn't vow to fulfill its users needs. Instead, it creates the needs of users. I love the way Jobs said this,"People don't know what they want until you show it to them." Amazing as it sounds, this is the source of inspiration that keeps Apple moving forward.
How the Impossibles are made Possible?
In Apple, nothing is impossible. When people are still clicking the next button or scrolling to turn the pages of their ebook, Apple introduced its patented multi-gestures which enable users to flip and swipe through pages naturally on their Mac, iPod and iPad. Because of Apple, effortless wireless music streaming becomes reality, with the introduction of Airplay. With the Airdrop function in Lion OS, remote file sharing and transferring becomes unbelievably easy. Nobody can ever imagine an ultra thin notebook until the appearance of the first ever Macbook Air. The Macbook product lines are also the one and only notebook size pc that don't include an exposed cooler air vent.
Since the debut of the World Wide Web, authorities struggle hard for their whole life to fight piracy. Some even said that there will never be a way to reduce and stop the cyber pirates. Again, Apple make the dream comes true. It becomes the beacon of hope to the music and film producers, singers, writers, etc. whose works are violated. With the introduction of iTune Store, ibook Store and Mac App Store, buying musics and apps is so simple and fast. Without needing to travel to the IT store or worry about damaged shipment, The buying process is simplified and less burdening. The best thing would be the price. With the lowest price reaching $99 per song, it reduces customers' anxiety while purchasing the items they desire without extra payment for shipments.
How Apple impacts me?
As an English teacher, creativity is of the essence. In this case, Apple really inspires me a lot. In the world where rapid changes frequently take place, Apple's reminds me to take advantage of the technology available and make the maximum use of it. Apple Engineers always strive to deliver the best out of each of their feature technology. For instance, with the creation of multi-touch function, Apple makes full use of this technology and work hard to make it even better. There's never a day where Apple stops thinking. When you think that they have done their best, they prove to you that there's something even better out there. Every day, I spends a lot of time browsing through the Apple website, watching their videos and reading their latest newsletters and headlines. It motivates me and at the same time, provide new teaching ideas of using the apps and softwares available to make my teaching more amazing. Not only that students enjoy learning, even teacher will enjoy the educating process.
