With some of the renowned companies like Standard Chartered Bank integrating iPads and iPhones into their businesses, the Apple iOS device has transformed into an essential tool to boost the productivity of their employees. In this section, I'll sort out some of the apps that can help achieve the goal.

1. Reminders App

Nothing is more convenient and cost effective than a built-in app developed by Apple itself. This app, though is free, offers some robust features that are previously available only in paid apps.

With Reminders, you can set multiple to-do lists. For each list, you can configure the due date of the tasks. This can prevent you from forgetting the tasks that you need to complete within a time period. If you need to attend many meetings and appointments and are worried that you might forget the stuff you need to do a particular event's location, no problem, the location-based alert is able to to notify you what you need to do once you reach a place. For instance, if you arrive at the bank, the app will remind you that you need to attend a product launching event or perhaps buy your boss a cup of coffee. Once, you have done any of the task in your to-do list, you can mark it as completed and the result will be automatically synced with your iCal and some other compatible services such as Outlook and iCloud. If you desire other alternatives that functions similarly as Reminders, you can also opt for Sorted developed by Savage Interactive.

2. iMessage App

Keeping in touch with co-workers in a big office is always a headache. SMS is costly while walkie-talkie is both battery consuming and annoying in terms of its noise and size. Now, with iMessage, another built-in Apple app, you can ditch your bulky walkie-talkie and say hello to elegant and effective cost free messaging. By using iMessage, you can send messages via WIFI and 3G to any of the iOS devices like iPod Touch, iPad, and iPhone. Best of all, with iMessage built into the Messages App, you can even send photos, videos, locations and contacts to each other for free. If you want to held a group conference, there's also a group messaging option available. The messages are in the form of speech bubbles, which makes messaging more fun.

3. Evernote App

With Evernote, you can take down notes in the form of typed text, ink notes, audios, etc. If you want to include images in your note, you can also copy and paste images directly from your web browser into your note. You can also insert web links into your note for ease of access. For bloggers and writers, you can also increase your productivity by using Evernote to jot down important ideas either online or offline. The app will help you to automatically sync your notes with your other iOS devices with Evernote installed so you can view your notes anytime, anywhere, as long as you are connected to internet.

4. Pages App

Pages for iOS enables you to create, edit and view your documents whenever you prefer, whether you're in the cafe, bookstore or bus stand.

With this handy app, you can enjoy:
  • 16 Apple-designed templates and styles to produce letters, reports, flyers, greeting cards, and stunning posters.
  • reading and editing files. Supports common file formats like Pages '09 (iWork), Microsoft Word, and plain text files (txt).
  • ease of importing files from Mail, the web, MobileMe iDisk, WebDAV service, your Mac or PC via iTune File Sharing.
  • wireless printing with AirPrint (supports number of pages, number of copies, and choosing between one or two-sided printing)
  • sharing your documents by exporting them to Pages '09, Microsoft Word or PDF, and send through email.  (credit: Apple)

Now, you have less to worry about file compatibility with this convenient app developed by Apple.

5. Keynote App

Keynote is another iWork based app. It allows you to create beautiful presentation for your career needs. You can use it to enhance your product presentation, or your company's financial report presentation by hooking up your iOS devices to the HD TV. Its full screen support also enables you to show simple slideshows by just walking around holding your iPad. However, as far as I know, the current keynote App still doesn't support AirPlay, which allow you to perform iPad display mirroring wireless.
