UnDRABbed Your window

I guess most of us have been using Windows 7 long enough to find out that your desktop interface looks drab. Maybe some of you don't even care how your desktop looks like, some just wanna have your work done smoothly. So, this post is for those who care. I've started to have the idea of decorating and redesign my desktop look while I was still in my first year of college life, admit it or not, college life is just like an undecorated windows 7 desktop interface, "drab" in nature. I'm not a workaholic, alchoholic, nor am I a game addict, and sitting in the room with a laptop full with unfinished assignments make me sick, so I decided to tried out a new project, a idea to revamp the look my laptop, to make it "jaw-dropping" cool. Here, I would like to share my experience of desktop customization, just in case you have the same "drab" issue like me and is desperate to look cool. :P

I'll start bit by bit. Before I begin, I would like to confess that I'm totally not the guy that is capable of creating all these stuff, I'm giving you a brief idea of how amazing those stuff works.

Ok, enough of my rubbish, the first customization tips that I wanna share with you is the start orb. What is a start orb?? Start orb is also called the windows start button. You click on the button when you wanna browse through your programmes and apps, or when you wanna enter the control panel, or you simply wanna use the search box to seek for your programmes or files. Ok, understand so far? Now lets proceed to the next step.

As far as we all know, Windows 7's start button is boring, it's like the same four colours (red, green, blue, yellow) twisted four panel window used over and over again. So the idea here is, we change it. We get rid of this junk and replace with a much cooler and personalized orb. Now, the idea is there, but how?

It is actually extremely easy. First of all, open your browser and paste this url http://www.door2windows.com/ at your url bar. This will leads you straight to the image of a free software called "Start Orb Changer." As far as I know, this software is only for windows 7 users, so Windows xp and Vista's users, please don't try this thing, it might kill your computer (nah, just kidding :P). The download procedure is pretty simple, you just click on the Start Orb Changer software image, and it will link you to the download page. Just scroll the page down to find the download link at the bottom of the page. The best part of this programme is the installation. Good news is, there's no installation needed, but please be aware that you need to right click and select run as administrator to ensure the stability of the software. The steps of using this software provided by the author in the website is very clear, so just be sure that you follow them step-by-step if you're not familiar with the software. And don't worry, if you suddenly feel regret of what you've done, you can always turn on the software and revert the change.

So, now you know the way to change the start orb, but where can you find the orb? You can either risk your life searching at google image or you can go straight to the start orb section at the deviant art website, the link is right here: http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=&section=&q=start+orb. In this section, you can find all kinds of start orb designed by various designers, and they are amazing. After you've download the orb in JPG file, you can now use the software to apply it on your desktop. That's it! Now you can show off to your friend your unique start orb :)
